LARAMIE, Wyo. - The University of Wyoming diving team swept the Mountain West Conference's diver of the week awards on Wednesday as Mark Murdock was honored as the top men's diver in the conference and Brittany Wainwright was selected as the top women's performer.
Murdock, a freshman from Flower Mound, Texas, won the one-meter and three-meter events in Wyoming's dual meet vs. UNLV, setting personal best marks in both events. In the one-meter, he scored 299.99, while notching a point total of 296.48 in the three-meter dive. His score on the one-meter is the best in the MWC this season, while his point total in the three-meter currently ranks fourth in the league. This is Murdock's first weekly honor.
Wainwright, a senior from Evanston, Wyo., swept both diving events as Wyoming compiled a 1-1 record in a Conference meet vs. UNLV and New Mexico last weekend. She opened the meet with a first-place score of 270.50 in the one-meter dive, while collecting a season-best score of 273.00 in the three-meter event. This marks the fifth named that Wainwright has been named the MWC's Diver of the Week.
