Wyoming's Ginni van Katwijk and Utah's Amber Walter have been named the Mountain West Conference Women's Diver and Swimmer of the Week, respectively. It marks the first for van Katwijk and the second weekly honor for Walter.
van Katwijk, a sophomore from Grookebroek, Netherlands, captured the top spot in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events during Wyoming's dual meet win against San Diego State. She tallied a 260.10 on the 1-meter, just missing her season best of 261.98, while on the 3-meter, she posted a 285.89 en route to winning both events.
Walter, a junior from Kalispell, Mont., recorded two individual and one relay first-place finish in a dual meet win over Colorado State. She took home top honors in the 100-yard freestyle (52.99) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.66). In addition, she was a member of the winning 400-yard medley relay team that finished in 3:54.34. This season, Walter holds the top times in the MWC in the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 breast.
