Cowboy Diver Murdock And Swimmer Fischer Given MWC Weekly Honors

LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming Cowboys Mark Murdock and Brandon Fischer were named male diver and swimmer of the week by the Mountain West Conference on Tuesday.

Murdock, from Flower Mound, Texas, swept the springboard events in the Cowboys' dual meet versus the Air Force Falcons. The senior posted the league's second-best score this season on the 3-meter springboard, tallying 414.45 points to win the event and set program and Corbett Pool records. He also turned in the MWC's fourth-highest score on the 1-meter board, collecting a facility-best 374.55 points for first place.

Fischer, a product of Livermore, Calif., led Wyoming to a 165-135 dual-meet victory over conference foe Air Force on Saturday. The senior recorded first place finishes in three individual events, including a sweep of the breaststroke events. He paced the field in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 56.66, and won the 200 breast with a mark of 2:06.05. Fischer also took first in the 200-yard individual medley (1:55.65).

On the women's side BYU senior Rachel Grant and New Mexico junior Aubrey Bush were named swimmer and diver of the week, respectively.
