LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming swimming and diving teams continued their success in the class room earning Team Scholar All-American honors by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced last week. The Cowboys earned the award with a team grade-point average of 3.25, ranking 20th in the nation. The Cowgirls earned a team GPA of 3.21 during the fall semester.
The honor, supported by Nike, is given out during the fall and spring semesters.
"Our team has bright and hardworking kids and I'm really impressed with the majors they are in and the grades they achieve," UW head coach Tom Johnson said. "It's their commitment outside of the pool to their school work. The help they get from the academic support and academic advisor Steven Cox has done an amazing job of keeping the team focused in the classroom and I'm really proud of the team's efforts."
The Fall Team Scholar All American award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the fall semester/quarter.
