March 31, 1999

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

University of Wyoming student-athlete Bethany Larsen has been named to the 1998-99 GTE/CoSIDA Academic District VII University Division Women's At-Large team for Fall and Winter Sports.

Larsen, of Rawlins, Wyoming, just completed her senior season as a member of the UW swimming and diving team. A four-year letterwinner on the team, Bethany has maintained a 3.92 GPA while pursuing a degree in zoology.

"With this honor, Bethany shows that you can be successful both academically and athletically," said head swimming and diving coach Tom Johnson. "She works hard and is very diligent toward her academic and athletic goals. I couldn't be more pleased for Bethany."

A multiple year winner of Academic All-WAC and WAC Scholar-Athlete honors, Larsen had a solid senior season for the Cowgirls, finishing her career with a 15th-place finish in the 100 yard freestyle at the recent WAC Championships meet.

Larsen and the other nine members of the All-District VII team will now be placed on the ballot for the 1998-99 GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-American team for Fall and Winter Sports, which will be announced later this spring.
