Five Wyoming Cowboy swimmers and one diver were selected as Academic All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honorees the conference office announced Thursday.
"I am very pleased with the guys who were honored it is a testament to their commitment to hard work in the classroom as well as the pool," Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson said.
In their first season in the MPSF, three Cowboy seniors Marshall Dilworth, Brandon Fischer and Valentin Schwarz earned their first MPSF awards. Dilworth (3.280 grade point average) and Schwarz (3.205) earned their fourth-consecutive academic all-conference award while Fischer (3.189) earned his third. Leading the way with the highest GPA for the Pokes was junior Trevor LeValley who earned his third-consecutive academic all-conference honor and first MPSF honor with a 3.851 GPA. Sophomore Ethan Griffel (3.391) earned his first academic MPSF honor and second academic all-conference honor and fellow sophomore Jayce Calhoon (3.159) earned his first honor.
The average GPA of the six Cowboys honored was 3.345 and Wyoming had the sixth most honorees in the MPSF.
To earn academic all-conference honors a student-athlete had to meet four criteria including: a 3.00 or better GPA, at least a sophomore academically, completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award was received and competed in 50 percent or more of the intuitions competitions.
