11 Cowboys Named to WAC Academic Team

The Western Athletic Conference announced the All-Academic list for the 2015-16 winter sports on Friday morning. The University of Wyoming men’s swimming and diving team placed 11 members on this year's list. Since the Cowboys joined the WAC in 2014, UW has had 32 total student-athletes named to the All-WAC Academic Team.

The Wyoming contingent was composed of five seniors, one junior and five sophomores. Brendan Costello, Austin Layman and Ryan Nelson led the way with their third selection, as Bryce Carter, Patrick Jones and Sam Loescher have been named for the second time in their careers.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must have completed at least one academic year, have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade point average and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s contests. A total number of 51 men's swimming and diving student-athletes from the conference earned the award this season.
