Day two of the Speedo USA Diving Spring National Championships was a successful day for both Wyoming Cowgirl divers that were competing. Both Emily Huth and Stephanie Ortiz qualified on one-meter for the semifinal round later in the week.

Not only did Huth qualify, she won the preliminary round with a score of 235.05. A day after making the next round on three-meter, Ortiz tied for 15th with a mark of 199.30 and will advance with Huth on one-meter.

"Emily was more comfortable today and dove very well," said UW diving coach Ben Herdt. "At this meet there is one less dive then in a college meet so that was in Emily's advantage today. Stephanie dove well enough to qualify, but for both to make the next round is fantastic and not easy to do."

Tomorrow will be a day off for the divers before the one-meter semifinal on Wednesday and three-meter semifinal on Friday in Fort Lauderdale, Fla, Huth and Ortiz will also compete in the synchronized section on Friday as well.
