LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Wyoming swimming and diving head coach Tom Johnson has announced his team's 2010-11 schedule. The upcoming season will have a number of quality opponents on the schedule including road meets against Nebraska, San Diego, Hawaii and a home meet against defending men's Mountain West Conference Champions UNLV.
The season will kickoff with the annual intra-squad Brown vs. Gold meet on Friday, Oct. 8 in Corbett Pool.
Last season the Cowgirls finished second at the MWC Championships, which marked their highest finish ever at the conference meet. Both the Cowgirls and the Cowboys gained national recognition by receiving votes in the collegeswimming.com top-25 polls.
"We are excited about adding new opponents like Nebraska, San Diego and Hawaii," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "With our non-conference schedule and the strength of the Mountain West teams we are going to have one of the best schedules in school history. We are very excited to get things rolling for another exciting season."
The first home meet of the season will fall on Friday, Oct. 15 against Mesa State followed by the DU Relays the next day in Denver, Colo. Other home meets include New Mexico (women), Denver, TCU, Northern Colorado (women), UNLV and Air Force.
On the road, the Cowgirls will face Nebraska in Lincoln, Neb. on Nov. 12 while both the Cowboys and Cowgirls will also face North Dakota on the same day. Wyoming will also swim in duals against San Diego and Hawaii in San Diego, Calif. a day after a MWC women's dual meet with San Diego State. The Texas Invite is also on the swimming and diving schedule along with road meets against conference opponents Utah, BYU and arch-rival Colorado State.
