Sept. 8, 2015

LARAMIE, Wyo. - University of Wyoming head swimming and diving coach Tom Johnson announced the addition of Kyle Bogner to the coaching staff last week. Bogner returns to UW to take over the head diving position after most recently being the head diving coach at New Mexico State.

“We are excited to have Kyle come back here,” UW head coach Tom Johnson said. “He did a terrific job at Northern Michigan and an even better job at New Mexico State. He is a proven recruiter and has done a great job to show he can handle this position. I know his own diving experiences will help him as a coach and help our student-athletes become successful.”

With the Aggies, Bogner worked under the head coach and was involved in many facets of the program including recruiting, travel and administrative duties. Before coaching at NMSU, he was the Graduate Assistant Diving Coach at Northern Michigan as well as a Program Manager for Transition to Diving in Denver, Colo.

As a diver for UW, Bogner was the Wyoming Diver of the Year twice and the 1-meter Mountain West Champion in 2008. Bogner, a five-time MW Diver of the Week award winner, holds two of the top three 1-meter diving scores in school history. His score of 403.20 is also the MW top score in the 1-meter.

“Being here has always been a dream of mine,” Bogner said. “It is great to be home. I am incredibly blessed that coach Johnson has given me the opportunity to work with him, the other staff and this great group of athletes. I am very excited for the future of this program.”

Bogner earned his bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in business from UW in 2011, as well as his Master of Science in Administration degree from California State University, Bakersfield in 2013.
