Two Cowgirl Swimmers Named to Academic All-American Honorable Mention List

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

On Tuesday, two University of Wyoming swimmers, senior Amiee Stinson and sophomore Lesley Young were named to the College Swimming Coaches of America Association Academic All-American Honorable Mention list.

"It's a tremendous honor, and a testament to their success in the pool and in the classroom," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "They work hard in and out of the pool and I am very happy for them."

Stinson, a native of Colorado Springs Colo., has been named to both the MWC AcademicAll-Conference and MWC Scholar-Athlete Award list three times. Last season Stinsonhad a GPA of 3.83 and is majoring in earth-space science education. She was the 2008 Mountain West Conference champion in the 1650 freestyle.

In 2007-08, Young (Turlock, Calif.) had a great freshman year for the Cowgirls, setting a school record in the 100 breaststroke. She was named MWC Academic All-Conference and earned the MWC Scholar-Athlete Award. Young is majoring in mechanical engineering and had a 3.75 GPA last season.
