LARAMIE, Wyo. -
For the second consecutive year, the University of Wyoming Swimming and Diving team will host a meet in Gillette, Wyo., with dual match-ups against North Dakota and South Dakota. The meet will be held at the Campbell County Aquatics Center.
The two day event will begin on Friday at 5 p.m., and will continue Saturday at 11 a.m.
The weekend duals were set up to allow fans from Northern Wyoming and surrounding areas a chance to see their teams compete without traveling far.
"We are looking forward to competing in Gillette again this year," said UW head coach Tom Johnson. "It was a tremendous meet a year ago, as the hospitality from the Gillette Swim Club and Campbell County High School Swimming was absolutely outstanding. It is also a great chance for the swimmers from the state of Wyoming to compete in the state, some of them in their home town."
Last season both UND and USD competed against Wyoming along with South Dakota State. The Cowboys and Cowgirls won both days for their first dual meet wins of the season.
This weekend's meet will be the first dual meets for Wyoming this season while North Dakota and South Dakota have already faced each other this season. The UND men won in a close meet, while the Sioux women also picked up a win over the Coyotes.
"The men's meet between North Dakota and South Dakota was very close. It came down to the final relay," Johnson added. "Both programs have continued to improve since they have made the jump to Division I. Both coaches have done a super job and have created a lot of excitement in their program."
The three-team meet will begin on Friday at 5 p.m. and continue on Saturday at 11 a.m. Both days will be at the Campbell County Aquatics Center.
