The University of Wyoming swimming and diving teams head to the Windy City to take on Illinois-Chicago and Northwestern this weekend. UW opens the trip with a dual meet against UIC on Friday at 5 p.m. MT. Wyoming wraps up the weekend on Saturday at 1 p.m. with dual meets against UIC and Northwestern at the Flames Natatorium. UW's meeting against Northwestern is the first co-ed dual against a Big Ten opponent since Wyoming faced the Wildcats in Corbett Pool in 1990.

The Cowboys are coming off an impressive 179-121 win over Air Force last Saturday in the Western Athletic Conference opener. Wyoming head coach Tom Johnson earned his 200th career victory in the win over the Falcons. Johnson has won 85 duals with the Cowboys and 115 with the Cowgirls in his time at UW.

Junior Adam Kalms was named the WAC Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday after a strong outing against the Falcons. He opened the meet with a win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.56 (altitude adjusted), the fourth fastest in Cowboy history. He then added a victory in the 100 butterfly with another altitude-adjusted time of 49.34, the fastest in the conference this season. Kalms was a member of the 200 medley and 400 free relay teams that earned wins. His leadoff time in the 100 free is another WAC season-best time of 44.81 (altitude adjusted).

The Cowgirls return to the pool for the first time since the Denver University Relays on Oct. 12. Senior Morgan Hartigan swam a 55.11 in the 100 backstroke in time trials during the Cowboys' dual against Colorado School of Mines passing two-time All-American Kelsey Conci's time of 55:49 in 2011.

UIC heads into the weekend with both the men's and the women's team posting 2-3 overall records. Northwestern's women's team is 2-0 on the season, as the Wildcats' men are 2-0 on the young season. Both Northwestern teams rank No. 32 in this week's Endless Pools/ CollegeSwimming.com polls.
