Wyoming Swimming And Diving Ready For Phil Hansel-Houston Invitational

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The University of Wyoming swimming and diving teams will travel to Houston for the Phil Hansel Invitational swimming and diving meet hosted by the University of Houston on Thursday and continuing through Saturday.

UW swimming and diving will be traveling to the Houston meet for the second-consecutive season after both the Cowboys and Cowgirls took second at last season's event. The Cowboys return two individual event winners from last season's meet, including Ethan Griffel who won two individual events. Griffel won the 500-yard freestyle (4:32.13) and touched the wall first in the 200 free with a time of 1:39.30. Picking up the Cowboys other win was Joseph Ferreri who won the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:57.51. Other Cowboys finishing in the top three of their respective events were; Jayce Calhoon who finished second in both the 1650 free (15:57.84) and the 200 backstroke (1:51.49), Jordan Turner placed second in the 200 individual medley (1:54.61), Jeff Frey finished both the 50 (20.74) and 100 (45.68) freestyle in third place, and Trevor LeValley finished the 400 individual medley in second place with a time of 4:02.06. The Cowgirls highest finisher was Morgan Hartigan who finished second in the 200 IM with a time of 2:02.61.
