COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -
The Mounatin West Conference announced today that Wyoming senior John Lynch and TCU junior Scott McCracken were voted as men's diver and swimmer of the week, respectively. TCU freshman Jennifer Ferguson captured her third consecutive Mountain West Conference women's diver of the week honor, while BYU sophomore Leilani Roberts earned her first career honor as women's swimmer of the week.
Lynch dove two personal best scores, two third best scores in Wyoming history, two first place finishes, two second place finishes and three NCAA Zone qualifying scores last weekend. In the Cowboys dual win over Denver, Lynch dove to personal best scores in both the one (321.75) and three-meter (342.38) diving events, placing second in each. Both scores are the third highest in Wyoming diving history and rank as the second highest scores in the MWC this season, while reaching NCAA Zone qualifying standards. In Saturday's dual with TCU, the San Antonio, Texas native won both diving events, finishing with a score of 298.43 in the one meter event and a score of 333.45 at three meters, which is also a Zone qualifying score.
Ferguson swept the diving events in three meets last week, posting the fifth-best score in TCU history with a 303.75 in the three-meter event against New Mexico State. The Beaconfield, Quebec, native then posted the fourth-highest score in TCU history at 311.33 in the three-meter event against Wyoming. Ferguson has compiled a 10-0 record this season.
Roberts was part of six first-place road finishes last week, winning three individual races in league action. She won the 100 backstroke (59.08) against San Diego State before helping the 200 medley relay to a first-place finish in 1:49.02. At UNLV, the Provo, Utah, native won each of her four events, turning in an MWC-leading time in the 100 freestyle (51.53), while posting the second-best time in the conference in the 200 freestyle (1:51.71). She helped the 200 medley relay to a winning time of 1:45.41, and also anchored the 400 freestyle relay to a 3:27.90 winning time. Both relay times rank second in the MWC this season.
McCracken won the 50 freestyle in 21.33 against Air Force and came back two days later to sweep the sprint events at Wyoming. The Houston, Texas, native posted a 21.29 in the 50 freestyle and a 47.10 in the 100 freestyle, which ranks eighth in the MWC this season. He then led the 400 freestyle relay to a 3:09.63 in the final event of the meet to give the Frogs the league win.
