DENVER, Colo. - University of Wyoming senior swimmer Adam Kalms was named Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Week. He is the second Cowboy to earn the honor this season after Senior Ryan O'Leary garnered the award earlier this season. It is the second time in his career he has been earned the award.
Kalms, a senior from Marmong Point, Australia, helped the Pokes pick up a pair of dual wins last weekend against UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly. Against UCSB, he won the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.46 and the 100 freestyle at 45.00. He also helped the 400 freestyle relay team to a victory in the event. Against Cal Poly he won the 200 freestyle at 1:39.10. He followed that up with a win in the 100 freestyle at 45.73 and 200 individual medley at 1:51.65. Kalms is now ranked first in the WAC in the 200 freestyle, third in the 200 IM and fourth in both the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke.
