In its final dual meet of 2015, the University of Wyoming men's swimming and diving team will face Pac-12 member Utah on Saturday in a neutral-site meeting in Green River, Wyo. The dual is set to begin at 1 p.m., MT at the Green River High School Aquatic Center.
It will mark the first meeting with the Utes since 2011, the last season Utah was a member of the Mountain West. Wyoming will return to action after most recently competing in the Purdue Invitational on Nov. 20-22. The Pokes ended the three-day invitational in second place behind host Purdue with 668.5 total points. In West Lafayette, Gabe Rooker and Kyle Sclaise each had NCAA "B" Cut mark times in the 100 breaststroke.
The Cowboys hold numerous top times in the Western Athletic Conference so far this season. Ryan Ball is currently second in the conference in the 1,000 freestyle and 200 backstroke with times of 9:20.45 and 1:44.70, respectively. His top times in the 1,000 free and 200 back rank second and fourth-best all-time for the Cowboy program. With a mark of 1:58.99, Rooker is also second in the 200 breast, while Ryan Nelson has the second-best time in the 400 IM with a mark of 3:52.59.
Utah will enter the weekend as the No. 14 ranked squad according to collegeswimming.com. The Utes last competed at the Art Adamson Invitational on Nov. 19-21. Behind victories from Bence Kiraly in the 200, 500 and 1,650 free and Kristian Kron in the 400 IM, Utah claimed first place at the Invitational. The Utes also set three school records and recorded 22 NCAA qualifying times during the three-day meet.
