Laramie, Wyo. - University of Wyomingjunior Scott Usher followed his second place finish in the100 meter breaststroke last Thursday, with a second placefinish in the 200 meter breaststroke at the 2003 US Open,Saturday night in Seattle, Wash.
Usher, a Grand Island, Neb. native, swam to a second placetime of 2:15.58. The Netherlands, Thijs van Valkengoed wonthe event in a time of 2:13.32, to complete a sweep of thebreaststroke events after winning the 100 on Thursday.Usher's time was once again the fastest time swam by anAmerican.
With his time, Usher's assured himself an appearance atthe 2004 NCAA Championships with an "A" cut.
"This was a great meet for Scott," said UW head coachTom Johnson. "He beat some of the world's best thisweekend and I couldn't be happier for him. I thought thathe hung tough with the Netherlands swimmer for most oftoday's race."
