University of Wyoming juniors Lesley Young and Mark Murdock each earned Mountain West Conference awards on Tuesday afternoon. Young was named MWC women's swimmer of the week, while Murdock earned diving honors on the men's side.
Young, who hails from Turlock, Calif., earned an NCAA "B" cut at the Texas Invitational in the 100-yard breaststroke. She finished seventh in the event with a time of 1:02.71. Young reached the finals in the 200 breast, touching in 2:16.87 to place eighth. She also competed on the Cowgirls' medley relay teams that finished in the top-10. Wyoming took eighth place in the 400-yard medley relay (3:49.19) and ninth place in the 200 medley relay (1:46.43), respectively.
Murdock, a native of Flower Mound, Texas, set a Wyoming record on the platform at the Texas Invitational in Austin, Texas. The junior collected a score of 355.15 on the platform to surpass his personal and school best of 346.45. Murdock, who also earned a bronze medal on the 3-meter springboard (341.60), also posted a mark of 296.80 on the 1-meter springboard to place seventh.
TCU's Josh Bagby earned men's swimmer of the week, while BYU's Tawni Jones earned women's diving honors.
