DENVER, Colo. -
The Western Athletic Conference announced Tuesday the selection of sophomore Austin Rettinghouse as its Diver of the Week. This is the second WAC Diver of the Week award in his career, after earning the honor once last season as a freshman on Jan. 20.
Rettinghouse, a sophomore from Worland, Wyo., led the Cowboy divers in the upset over then-No. 14 Utah. He won the 3-meter diving event with a season-best score of 357.61, and also took second on the 1-meter event with a final of 309.60. Rettinghouse will next compete at the USA Diving Winter National Championships. The six-day event is scheduled to begin Dec. 15 in Indianapolis, Ind.
At the WAC Championships as a freshman, Rettinghouse finished fifth in the 1-meter diving finals with a score of 293.75 and eighth on the platform with a tally of 252.40. He also qualified for his first NCAA Zone Championship and finished 18th in the 23-diver field with a total tally of 499.35.
Wyoming will return to action on Jan. 9 as it will travel to Denver for a dual with the Pioneers. The meet will begin at 1 p.m. MT.
