LINCOLN, Neb. - Following a strong Friday performance getting back into competitive mode, the Wyoming track and field teams continued its momentum with strong finishes Saturday to conclude the Holiday Inn Invitational in Lincoln, Neb.
The meet was highlighted by several personal bests, including senior Mollie Dahl's shot put throw of 48 feet, 1.75 inches, which ranks ninth on the all-time UW indoor list for the event. Freshman McKenzie Brogan achieved a 56.62 in the 400-meter run, which ranks tenth on the all-time UW indoor 400 list, to place second.
The women's distance medley relay team of Olivia Heaston, Natalie Hurst, Candace Wollert and Holly Page turned in a time of 12:02.38, which is the second-best time in school history for the indoor DMR, to place first.
In the men's 60-meter hurdles, junior Jacob Edwards placed eighth with a time of 8.38, beating his former best of 8.73, to move to No. 10 on the UW all-time best indoor list. Aaron Praska also achieved a personal-best time of 8.45 to place 11th in the race.
"We're pleased with where we are at this point of the season," said coach Bryan Berryhill. "It's great to see personal-best times and distances, and I think the team is progressing well. There's a lot to improve, but I'm happy to see that the team is upbeat and confident and giving their best effort."
In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Jenna Mann and Katy Hall represented the program well with their respective first- and third-place finishes. In the 60-meter dash, freshman Kereston Thomas placed third in 7.75 seconds, while Audrey West earned a personal-best 7.85 to finish in fourth. The pair also competed in the 200-meter dash with respective third- and fifth-place times.
The women's 4x400-meter relay team of Diana Long, Taylor Gardner, Mann and Brogan placed second in 3:51.77. Long and Gardner also competed in the 400-meter dash with Brogan, earning sixth and ninth place times of 57.83 and 59.03.
The teams compete next weekend at the Potts Indoor Invitational in Boulder, Colo.
