BOULDER, Colo. - Multiple Wyoming field athletes and select runners competed well Saturday to conclude the Potts Indoor Invitational at the University of Colorado's Balch Fieldhouse in Boulder, Colo.
"I was pleased with the effort of the athletes we brought to this meet," said coach Bryan Berryhill. "I was impressed with our throwers, who showed continual progression and improved from last weekend's performances. We didn't travel many to this meet, but I came away happy with the progress shown by those who did."
The women's throwers had a solid outing as Shreese Daniels won the weight throw at 61'10.5." She is currently ranked No. 16 in the NCAA for the event. Senior Mollie Dahl, ranked No. 50 in the nation in the shot put, placed second in the event with a distance of 47'9.75."
Cody Milbourn came in fifth place in the shot put at 43'7," while sophomore Katie Higgins performed well in the weight throw with a season best 53-foot throw for ninth place. Junior Jenna Mann competed in her first indoor shot put, placing 13th at 34'9" and breaking her outdoor personal best of 33'1.25." Mann also competed in the long jump, arriving in fifth place with a jump of 17'2."
Kate Striepe and Jolie DuBois represented UW in the 60-meter dash with Striepe finishing third in 8.22 seconds and DuBois placing fourth at 8.36. Striepe achieved an 8.16 in the preliminaries round of the event, her first collegiate 60-meter dash.
On the men's side, sophomore Kyle Sullivan competed in several events with strong finishes, placing eighth in the long jump at 20'10" and 11th in the shot put with a personal-best 42'1.25."
Competing unattached, junior transfer Mason Finley finished first in the shot put with a throw of 63'11," over seven feet farther than the second-place finisher in the event.
The teams resume the indoor season next weekend at the Air Force Invitational in Colorado Springs, Colo.
