Some University of Wyoming track team members got off to a rocky start in the 2011 indoor season.

Four UW tracksters went to the Potts Invite in Boulder on Friday and took part in the pentathlon. Senior Britney Jackson was the highest finisher for Wyoming, claiming 10th place after five events with 2,216 points. Jackson's best performance came in the long jump, where she leaped to a mark of 15 feet, 9 inches.

Jackson was followed by sophomore Matti Irvine in 12th place with 1,751 points, sophomore Maria Cress in 13th with 1,661 points and freshman Ku'uipo Kalawai'anui in 14th place with 1,412 points.

"Even though it was the first meet of the year and the athletes were a bit rusty ... The results were not up to par," Wyoming assistant coach Quincy Howe said. "They're disappointed, and I'm disappointed as well. We can only go up from here."

The conclusion of the two-day event will be Saturday. Events begin at 10 a.m.
