FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -

Wyoming Cowboy junior Jeremiah James had finished first in every triple jump event this indoor season, however was unable to earn a top finish at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark., on Saturday afternoon.

James ended up 14th with a leap of 50' 4.5" in his first attempt. The national champion came from the University of Florida sophomore, Christian Taylor, with a jump of 56' 4.5". It was James' first time to the NCAA Championships and he will surely take with him the experience of jumping with the best in the nation to the outdoor season.

"We are very proud of Jerry making it this far and being one of the elite jumpers in the nation," said assistant coach Quincy Howe. "It was a very competitive group and with the experience of competing against such a higher level he will be ready next time."

Next time will be during the outdoor season, March 20, where Jeremiah James and Afiya Walker will lead the Cowboys and Cowgirls to the Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo.
