The University of Wyoming track and field teams earned six combined dual victories Saturday in the Fum McGraw Quadrangular.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls each went 3-1 in the dual-format scoring event and each program defeated Colorado, Northern Colorado and Air Force.
Plante's mark of 174-11 was a season-best distance, and Thomas' throw of 171-11 was a personal best and 10th in Wyoming history. Two throwers were 1-2 among collegiate athletes in the hammer throw as well, as Plante hit 186-7 and junior Mark Sparks was right behind with 183-9.
Junior Henry Ferreira was first in the javelin, tossing it 186-10 to win the event.
Junior Katy Hall was fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 14.64, while sophomore Candace Wollert was third in the 400-meter dash (56.95). Sophomore Kirsten McKen was second in the 800-meter run, crossing the line with a time of 2:19.08.
"Quite a few kids made some improvements, but a few have to improve their fitness level and their competitive instincts," UW assistant coach Randy Cole said.
Senior Jeremiah James did not record a distance in the triple jump Saturday in the 85th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, to wrap up UW action.
