UW Track And Field Fares Well At Jack Christiansen Invite

Ft. Collins, Colo. - Four University of Wyoming trackand field athletes took home individual event titles at the JackChristiansen Invite in Fort Collins Saturday. Senior's Mervin Swaby andQuincy Howe earned the top spots in the long jump and triple jump, whilesophomore Shauna Smith raced to first place in the 400 meter hurdles.Sophomore Jessica Fox was a double winner on Saturday taking titles in the100 and 200 meter dash.

Quincy Howe's mark of 51' 6.25" is his second best leap of the seasan aswas Mervin Swaby's jump of 24' 4.25" in the long jump. Swaby also tooksecond place in the triple jump with a mark of 49' 7.75". Freshman RobertHarris took third place in the 200 meter dash with a personal record time of21.49. Another Cowboy notable was senior Joel Hess taking third place in the10,000 meter run with a time of 34:35.79.

Jessica Fox's time of 23.58 in the 200 meter dash sets a new Wyoming schoolrecord in the event, she also posted a personal best time in the 100 meterdash (11.87). Shauna Smith's first place finish in the 400 meter hurdles wastwo full seconds faster than her competition, she also placed third in the100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.21. Sophomore triple jumper CourtneySchlegel leaped to second place with a mark of 38' 9.5" and senior StephanieHanks raced to third place in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:59.39.
