After four events, University of Wyoming sophomore Jenna Mann leads the heptathlon at the Glenn Morris Multi-Event competition in Fort Collins, Colo.
On Thursday, Mann had 3,029 points after four of the seven events to sit atop the leaderboard for the event. She ran a 14.15-second mark in the 100-meter hurdles, following with a team-best height of 5 feet, 2.5 inches in the high jump. She improved in the 200-meter dash, crossing the line with a time of 25.82 and also hit 33-1.25 in the shot put.
UW freshman Julia Popish was ninth out of 10 competitors with 2,076 points. Her marks included 17.75 seconds (100 hurdles); 4-4 (high jump); 23-7.25 (shot put) and 26.14 in the 200.
The duo caps off the heptathlon Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800-meter run.
Junior Brandon Douglass sits in second after five events in the decathlon with 3,585 points, trailing leader Brandon Johnson by 129 points. He was tops in the 100-meter dash (11.25); hit 22-2.50 in the long jump; 38-7.75 in the shot put and 6-0.50 in the high jump.
Freshman Kyle Sullivan was fifth out of five competitors, with marks in the 100 (11.50); long jump (20-7.25); shot put (38-4.75) and high jump, 6-1.50.
Sullivan and Douglass will finish the decathlon Friday with the 110-meter hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin and 1,500-meter run.
