University of Wyoming distance runnerJoe Hall finished 18th in the 10,000-meter run Wednesday at the NCAAOutdoor Track and Field Championships held in Eugene, Ore.
Hall had a time of 31:32.33 in the field of 19 runners. Hall enteredthe event with the 18th-best time in the country. The event was won byRyan Shay of Notre Dame who had a time of 29:05.44. Hall, from Buffalo,Wyo., finishes his career as one of the top distance runners in UWhistory.
"Joe ran a solid race," said Wyoming head coach Don Yentes. "It was avery talented field and the times they ran show that. But this was agood ending to an outstanding career for Joe. For him to be able tocompete in an event like this after all of his hard work is justfitting."
Wyoming has three other individuals who will be competing at thechampionships. Jason Hammond will compete in the hammer on Thursdaywhile Jason Gervais will compete in the discus and Andrea Batt willcompete in the javelin on Friday.
