Howe Completes Wyoming's Competition At NCAA Outdoor Championships

Laramie, Wyo. -- Quincy Howe finished up the Wyoming2002 outdoor track and field season, on Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Trackand Field Championships, in Baton Rouge, La.

Howe, who competed in the triple jump, completed his competition at thechampionships with a jump of 51' 4 1/4". His finish didn't place himamong the qualifiers to move on to the finals. Senior Walter Davis ofLSU won the event with a mark of 56' 10 3/4".

A junior from Perrylands, Tinidad, he entered the event seeded thirdwith a qualifying mark of 54' 4 3/4". It was a personal best and a newschool record that he set earlier this month at the MWC Championships. "Quincy probably had one of his most disappointing jumping days thathe's had in a long time," said head coach Don Yentes. "He just couldn'thit anything and wasn't really on, which was very disappointing. But, hedid have a very good season as he was an All-American during the indoorseason in the triple jump."
