COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Wyoming's Shreese Daniels and Tyler Anderson have been named the Mountain West Female and Male Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced Tuesday. Daniels won the weekly award for the third time in her career, including twice this season, while Anderson earned the accolade for the first time in his career.
Daniels, a senior from Steilacoom, Wash., won the weight throw at last Friday's Rocky Mountain Classic with a personal-best toss of 68-1. Her mark kept her second in Cowgirl history in the event and currently leads the conference by more than two feet, while ranking 17th in the NCAA. Anderson, a junior from Lovell, Wyo., was nearly as impressive on the men's side of the weight throw. He tied his personal best at 65-11 to lead the conference in the event by more than seven inches. Anderson's throw was just two inches shy of Wyoming's all-time top 10 and currently ranks 37th in the nation.
The Cowboys and Cowgirls return to action at this week's MW Indoor Championships on Thursday-Saturday in Albuquerque, N.M.
