LARAMIE, Wyo. - Following a successful indoor season, the Wyoming track and field teams begin the 2013 outdoor season Friday, March 22, at the Tom Benich Invitational in Greeley, Colo.
Originally scheduled for Saturday, March 23, the meet was moved one day forward due to potential inclement weather on Saturday.
Hosted by Northern Colorado, the meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. with select field events and continue with the running events. Wyoming will face athletes from UNC, Colorado, Colorado St., Chadron St, Metro St. and Black Hills St.
"Being Spring Break, we're giving our teams a few days off to get refreshed and prepared for the meet," said Wyoming coach Bryan Berryhill. "The purpose of this meet is to find out where we're at following the indoor season and gauge how far we need to go to prepare for the MW outdoor championships in May."
The squads have been out of action since the MW Indoor Championships held Feb. 21-23 in Boise, Idaho, where the men's team placed fifth with 72 points and the Cowgirls finished eighth with 53 points. Junior Mason Finley represented Wyoming at the NCAA Championships March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark.
