Wyoming freshman Brad Charters and BYU freshman Mindy Neeley have been named Mountain West Conference Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week, respectively. This is the first career weekly honor for both recipients.
Charters, a Camas, Wash., native, won the men's hammer throw competition at the Potts Invitational in Boulder, Colo., last weekend, qualifying for the NCAA Regionals in the process. His throw of 186'-4.00" (56.80m) set a Wyoming freshman record and currently ranks fourth in the nation.
Neeley, from Santa Barbara, Calif., won the long jump, finished second in the 100 meter dash and finished fourth in the 200 meter dash at the Cal Poly Invitational in San Luis Obispo, Calif., last week. Her mark of 19'-10.75" (6.07m) in the long jump was her best as a collegian and currently ranks third in the nation. Neeley concluded her week finishing second in the 100 meter dash (12.05) and fourth in the 200 meter dash (24.94).
