LARAMIE, Wyo., (April 8, 2010) -- University of Wyoming track and field head coach Don Yentes, announced Thursday the signing of two student athletes to a National Letter of Intent to compete for the Cowgirls in the upcoming 2010-11 season.
The Cowgirl sprint squad will add Audrey West from Afton, Wyo., and Jennifer Mann from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
West is a sprinter and long jumper from Star Valley High School where her personal best in the 400-meter dash was a 57.01 and her best long jump was 18 feet 10.5 inches. Her time in the 400, currently ranks ninth all-time in the indoor record books and in the long jump would be seventh best.
"Audrey is a very good athlete that has a lot of range in the power events and should be a big asset to the team right off the bat," said Yentes.
Mann is a sprinting hurdler, that in 2009 at the Canadian Youth Nationals finished third with a time of 14.30 in the 100-meter hurdles.
"Jennifer comes from a very good program and has tremendous upside," said Yentes. "She will compliment a very good hurdle squad next year.
"We are very excited to have both of these two young women join the Cowgirl's next season and we look forward to seeing them improve and help our team," finished Yentes.
