Ft. Collins, Colo. - Junior Bret Zowada took first place at the Glenn Morris Heptahtlon/Decathlon meet, scoring 6,259points Monday afternoon in Ft. Collins, Colo. Zowada, a native ofLusk, Wyo., took the top spot in four of the ten events, and neverfinished below third in an event during the two-days of competition.Wyoming sophomore Eric Suter finished fourth with 5,701 points.
Zowada closed out Monday's competition by clearing a career high12' 3 1/4" in the pole vault to take the top spot in the event. Healso posted a personal best distance in the javelin throw with a markof 157' 11", also the top performance in the competition.
Cowgirl Leah Burke, a sophomore from Cheyenne, Wyo., placed fourthoverall in the women's heptathlon. Her best performance was a timeof 27.2 in the 200 meter dash, ranking fourth.
The Wyoming track & field teams will be in Albuquerque on Saturdayfor the Modrall Sperling Don Kirby Invitational.
