Wyoming distance runner Joe Hall, asenior from Buffalo, Wyo., has been awarded a NCAA PostgraduateScholarship.
Hall, an architectural engineering major, was one of 29 male athletesto receive the honor for the fall sports season. The postgraduatescholarship is awarded to athletes in each of the three NCAA Divisionsand is broken into two sports season, fall and spring.
During his athletic career at Wyoming Hall has been one of the topcross county and long distance runners for the Cowboys. This academicyear Hall has provisionally qualified for the 2001 NCAA Outdoor Trackand Field Championships in the 10,000-meter run and competed in the 2000NCAA Cross Country Championships.
Academically Hall was named the Wyoming Engineering Society StudentEngineer of the Year for the 2000-2001 academic year. He has alsoearned Academic All-Conference and Mountain West ConferenceScholar-Athlete honors. In 2000 he was named to the GTE AcademicAll-American District VII Team.
"Joe's a great person and just a tremendous student," said Wyominghead track and field coach Don Yentes. "He's a very hard worker on andoff the track and is very deserving of this award."
The NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship awards its recipients a $5,000scholarship for part-time or full-time postgraduate study at theuniversity or professional school of their choice.
