LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Mountain West Conference has announced the men's and women's outdoor track and field student-athletes that were selected to the All-Conference team, and three Wyoming Cowboys and three Cowgirls made the list.
The top three in each event at the recently completed MWC Championships in Laramie were named to the team.
For the Cowboys, sophomore Jeremiah James in the long jump and triple jump, freshman Joe Plante in the discus and senior Jake Shanklin in the hammer throw made the cut. The Cowgirls that were on the list were senior Shaylee Babbitt in the 100-meter hurdles, junior Emily Higgins in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and junior Johnna Jeffries in the high jump.
James was the individual champion in both the long jump and triple jump, bringing his career total to four titles in the long jump, twice indoors and twice outdoors. In the triple jump this was his second championship after winning it during the indoor season. Plante earns his first honor in the discus which he is regionally qualified in. Shanklin just missed his first ever hammer throw championship, however, finished second and enters the regional meet with the third best throw in the region and tenth in the nation.
