Berryhill Announces Additional Newcomers to 2013-14 Squad

LARAMIE, Wyo. - Wyoming track and field coach Bryan Berryhill announced Friday afternoon the addition of 16 student-athletes to his roster for the 2013-14 season.

The 16 newcomers are Katelyn Davis (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Danielle Alexander (Cheyenne, Wyo.), Shana Wilcoxson (Burns, Wyo.), Logan Yurek (Cheyenne, Wyo.), Rachelle Leseberg (DuBois, Wyo.), Sidney Merrill (Akron, Colo.), Robert Wingeleth (Lyman, Wyo.), Ryan Rogers (Fort Collins, Colo.), Cody Jerabek (St. Paul, Minn.), Jordan Charles (Aurora, Colo.), Stephen Kristy (Hettinger, N.D.), Thomas Atkinson (University of Liverpool), Harry Fisher (Cardiff Metropolitan), Dylan Morin (Sheridan, Wyo.), Garrett Westlake (Gainesville, Fla.) and Michael Rotellini (Sheridan, Wyo.).

"We like who we're bringing into the program and feel that all of them can come in and make an immediate impact," Berryhill said. "The class is a solid mix of great high school athletes or transfers from other universities who have proven what they can do. With the incoming talent we'll have, we feel we are headed in the right direction to complement the great athletes already returning."

The additions bring the 2013 class to 26 as the other 10 newcomers were announced in February. The following is an individual look at each incoming athlete joining the UW track teams:

Katelyn Davis - Widefield HS - Colorado Springs, Colo.
Finished fourth in the shot put at the 2013 Class 4A Colorado state track and field championships this past spring."With some time developing her strength and power levels, along with some technical changes, I believe Katie has the potential to help us in the near future. She will also spend some time learning the hammer and weight throw this coming fall." -Coach Paul Barrett

Danielle Alexander - Cheyenne Central HS - Cheyenne, Wyo.

Shana Wilcoxson - Burns HS - Burns, Wyo.
Nine-time state champion in jumping and vault events at Wyoming state track championships.

Sidney Merrill -Akron HS - Akron, Colo.
Merrill is the Colorado High School Coaches Association winner of the 40th Fred Steinmark High School Athlete of the Year award. At 6-2, she has been all-state and all-conference in volleyball for three years and all-conference and all-state in basketball the past four years. She has won four state individual titles in the pole vault.

"Bobby has made significant improvements this year, winning state titles in the long jump both indoors and outdoors. His approach and explosiveness are exciting to have the opportunity to work with. Ryan Rogers - Fort Collins HS - Fort Collins, Colo.

Cody Jerabek - University of St. Thomas - St. Paul, Minn.

Cody earned a bachelor degree in Peace Studies and Philosophy at the University of St. Thomas. He will be attending law school at Wyoming this fall. He was named the 2013 MIAC Outstanding Men's Track Athlete after winning dual titles in the 100- and 200-yard dashes."Cody helps us fill a gap due to graduation, and gives us another very versatile sprinter that can help us in his individual events and relays. Being a grad student and continuing his career here shows us that he has the determination to be successful." -Coach Shaun Meinecke

Jordan Charles - Grandview High School - Aurora, Colo.
State champion in the 110 hurdles and state runner-up in the 300 hurdles.

Stephen Kristy - Hettinger HS - Hettinger, N.D.

High Jump - 6'-6"

Parents are Mark and LaNae Kristy. All-region basketball and football teams for the past two years.

Thomas Atkinson - University of Liverpool
Thomas achieved his bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Liverpool in June and runs middle distance for the Sale Harriers Manchester. He will be attending graduate school at the University of Wyoming this fall.

Harry Fisher - Cardiff Metropolitan University
Harry achieved his bachelor's degree from Cardiff Metropolitan University this June. Harry runs middle distance for the Southampton Athletic Club and will be attending graduate school at the University of Wyoming this fall.

Dylan Morin - University of Washington - Sheridan, Wyo.
Graduated from Sheridan HS in Sheridan, Wyo. in May of 2011.
