Seven University of Wyoming track and field student-athletes have earned All-Academic honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the organization announced on Wednesday.

"Our whole coaching staff is extremely proud of these student-athletes and their accomplishments on the academic level," Wyoming head coach Bryan Berryhill said. "This award shows their dedication not just in competition, but in the classroom as well. Associate Athletics Director Phil Wille and the Academic Support staff deserve credit as well for helping them excel."

The Cowboy contingent was highlighted by seniors Brandon Douglass and Joe Plante. A hurdler, Douglass became Wyoming's first CoSIDA All-American since 2006 earlier this summer with a 3.97 cumulative grade-point average in physiology. Plante, a thrower, earned his second-consecutive USTFCCCA honor thanks to a 3.40 GPA in kinesiology and health promotion. Both also were named to the Mountain West's Academic All-Conference team this season, while Douglass earned the MW Scholar-Athlete Award. Junior hurdler Colin Herold rounded out UW's male honorees with a 3.75 GPA in finance.

Senior sprinter Taylor Gardner paced the Cowgirls named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic team with a perfect 4.0 GPA in physiology, while senior heptathlete Jenna Mann also earned the honor thanks to a 3.83 GPA in physiology. The duo also claimed both MW academic awards this spring. Senior sprinters Diana Long and Katelyn Hall, both majoring in kinesiology and health promotion, claimed the accolade with GPAs of 3.42 and 3.27, respectively.

A total of 21 male and 30 female student-athletes from the MW were named to the team, as UW's seven honorees matched its total from last season. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the top 48 in a relay event; or for the outdoor season, participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
