PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad - Afiya Walker, a former track star for the University of Wyoming, added another trophy to her already full case this weekend.

Walker ran at the Sagicor-NAAA National Open Championships on Aug. 13-14 in Trinidad. The event serves as Trinidad's national track championships.

After graduating from UW just months ago, Walker won the 400-meter dash at the event. She ran to a time of 54.48 seconds, beating Magnolia Howell for the crown.

Walker finished her career as one of UW's most accomplished sprinters, winning conference titles in her senior year in the 400-meter dash in both indoor and outdoor track. She also is on UW's top-10 all-time list in several events.
