LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The indoor season has arrived for the Wyoming track and field program.
Wyoming will host Northern Colorado and Colorado State-Pueblo in the Wyoming Power Meet on Saturday in the War Memorial Fieldhouse. The field events will begin at 11 a.m., and the track events start at 1 p.m.
Events include the weight throw, long jump and pole vault in the field events, and 55-meter hurdles, 600-yard run and the 4-by-400-meter relay, which begins at 2:45 p.m.
It's just the beginning of the track season, which will last until the second week of June.
"We've been training for three months now, so it'll be nice to run against people you don't see every day," Wyoming coach Don Yentes said.
It's also crucial to get started off on the right foot for both the newcomers and the veterans.
"It's important to do all the things in preparation for a meet so when we get to a bigger meet, there won't be any panic on their part," Yentes said. "It's important to know the routine and adjust to the routine."
