"Joe ran very impressively considering this is probably one of the topthree races of this magnitude in the country," UW head cross countrycoach Jim Sanchez said. "We are still having problems with our fourth, fifth and sixth runners right now adapting to running longer distancesbecause they are all middle distance runners. Our major work we need todo right now as a team is to stabilize our number four, five and sixrunners, but I feel we can fix that pretty easily."

A young Cowgirl squad gained valuable experience on its way to a28th-place team finish (810 points) out of a field of 29 teams. TheUniversity of Minnesota won the women's six-kilometer team title with atotal score of 98 points.

"The results don't show that we did much but we did get a lot of thingsaccomplished," Sanchez said. "Our packing spaces between our number oneand five runners is getting better and I think the girls are starting toget out of their comfort zone areas and pushing themselves a littlemore. I thought they ran very hard especially considering that this oneof the toughest meets in the country to compete in."

Arizona junior Tara Chaplin won the women's competition with a time of21:00.

Wyoming next travels to Boulder, Colo., Saturday, Sept. 30, to race atthe Rocky Mountain Shootout.
