LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The University of Wyoming mens and womens cross country teams competed at the Rocky Mountain Shootout today, held on the campus of the University of Colorado. The Cowboys finished fourth in a 14-team field while the Cowgirls finished ninth in a 15-team field.
Leading the men was Dave Roberts, who had missed much of the season with an injured knee, when he finished the 8.1K course in a time of 26:02. The top finisher for the women was once again Amy Hill, who ran the 5K course in a time of 23:24.
"This was our best race of the year for the men," Larry Judge, head cross country and track coach, said. "Our packing space was good (55 seconds), and we finally had our top five runners intact. I look forward to the WAC Championships now that we have Dave Roberts back in the lineup. On the womens side, we ran well up to the two-mile point, but then we faded. But I was impressed with Christy Burgess in her first race of the year."
