University of Wyoming senior JoeHall placed ninth individually at the 2000 Mountain Region Cross CountryChampionships held at the Riverside Golf Course in Riverdale, Utah.
Hall clocked a time of 31:18.7 on the 10-kilometer course. UW seniorGreg Schabron was the only other Cowboy runner to place in the toptwenty, finishing 17th with a time of 31:42.8. Colorado's Jorge Torrespaced the men's field, winning with a time of 30:38.6.
The Cowboy's placed 13th in the team standings out of 17 teams with atotal of 314 points. The University of Colorado won the team title with38 points.
A very young Cowgirl squad managed a 16th-place finish with 442points. Colorado completed the team sweep by winning the women's racewith 38 points.
Sophomore Jennifer Vessa led all Cowgirl athletes with a 58th-placefinish on the six-kilometer course with a time of 23:16.3.
"Joe Hall really came out strong today and gave it all he could," saidUW head cross country coach Jim Sanchez. "I was also very pleased withGreg Schabron's performance. Both Hall and Schabron have had solidcross country careers here and it was very nice to see them end on suchpositive notes.
"The women gained valuable experience today. It was nice to see themgrow and mature as the season progressed." Sanchez said.
