LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming head coach Bryan Berryhill announced the 2015 cross country schedule on Thursday. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will run at meets in Colorado, Minnesota, Kentucky, Nevada and New Mexico this fall.
The UW harriers open the season at the Colorado State Invite on Sept. 4 in Fort Collins, Colo. Wyoming opened its 2013 campaign at the meet, as current-senior Amos Bowen finished fourth in his first cross country race at the event. The Cowboys and Cowgirls return to the prestigious Roy Griak Invite this season on Sept. 26 in Minneapolis, Minn., after competing at the event in 2013 as well. One of the largest meets of the season, the Griak regularly draws some of the top teams in the nation.
Wyoming continues its season at the Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder, Colo., on Oct. 3, before traveling to the Louisville Pre-National Invite on Oct. 17 in Louisville, Ky. The Cowboys and Cowgirls have not officially competed in the shootout since 2011, but did run in the pre-nationals at Indiana State last season. This year’s Mountain West Championships will be contested on Oct. 30 in Reno, Nev. The Cowgirls tied their best finish ever at the meet last season with a third-place showing, while the Cowboys were sixth. Sophomore Kerry White was All-MW Second Team at the meet.
New Mexico will host the NCAA Mountain Regional on Nov. 13 in Albuquerque and teams and individuals that qualify will run in the NCAA Championships on Nov. 21 in Louisville. Bowen and graduated-senior Holly Page advanced to the national meet last fall.
