Wyoming junior Mark Korir was selected as the Mountain West Conference cross country Athlete of the Week for his performance in last Friday's Wyoming Invitational, in Laramie, Wyo.
His race leading time of 21:42.07 was also a new course record at the Jacoby Golf Course. His time shattered the previous record of 22:12, set two years ago by Nick Wilson of Air Force. Korir completed the 6K race nearly 25 seconds ahead of the field.
Korir and the Cowboys look to continue their success Sept. 15, at the Montana State Invitational in Bozeman, Montana.
On the women's side Colorado State senior Heather Loseke, was also honored by the MWC with weekly honors for her outstanding race at the Wyoming Invitational. She won the race with a time of 14:42, and led her team their fourth consecutive first place finish at the Invitational.
