The University of Wyoming men?sand women?s cross country teams competed at the Colorado StateInvitational today in Ft. Collins, Colo. The men placed sixth while thewomen were seventh.
Leading the way for the Cowboys was senior Joe Hall. Hall finishedseventh overall and clocked in at 24:53. He was followed up by GregSchabron (22nd, 25:45), Chris Jons (52nd, 26:54), Todd Disney (58th,27:11) and Cody Brown (72nd, 27:35).
Amy Hill was the top placer for the Cowgirls, coming in 42nd overallwith a time of 18:55. Hill was followed by two freshman, Kristy Murff(47th, 19:09) and Jennifer Vessa (51st, 19:17). Rounding out Wyomingfinishers were Erin Renken (55th, 19:29) and Tara LaMay (73rd, 20:03).
"I was very pleased with the women's performance," said Larry Judge,University of Wyoming head cross country and track and field coach.
"Our packing space was under a minute and all of our returning runnershad personal bests on the course. I was pleased with the improvedtimes.
"Joe Hall placed high in a very, very competitive field," said Judge."I'm excited by his performance and he is striving to become a qualifierfor the national championships.
"We have been training very hard lately, and we didn't peak for thismeet. Both teams will keep working hard to improve their times as wehead towards the conference championships."
The next meet for Wyoming will be Sept. 25 at the Roy GriakInvitational in Minneapolis, Minn. The meet is hosted by the Universityof Minnesota.
