Due to a cancelled flight, the University of Wyoming men's and women's cross country teams will not compete at Friday's Notre Dame Invite in South Bend, Ind. The Cowboys and Cowgirls will now head to Seattle for the Washington Invite on Saturday. The women's 6-kilometer race starts at noon MT, followed by the men's 8-kilometer race at 12:45 p.m.
Wyoming was originally scheduled to fly into Chicago on Thursday and drive to South Bend to compete in Friday's Notre Dame Invite, but the flight was cancelled due to complications from a fire at an air traffic control center in Chicago last Friday. Luckily, head coach Bryan Berryhill was able to make last-minute arrangements to have the Cowboys and Cowgirls compete in the Washington Invite on Saturday at Seattle's Jefferson Park Golf Course.
A key weekend for Wyoming's hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships, the field at the Washington Invite may be even tougher than at Notre Dame. Confirmed teams for Saturday feature nine ranked teams on the men's side, including five teams in the nation's top 10, and five ranked teams in the women's race, including two top-five squads.
