LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Dion Sherrell and Justin Williams each scored 19points, and Derek Wabbington had eight of his 12 points in the final 5:20 ofthe game in leading Wyoming past Brigham Young 83-71 Monday night.

The loss for BYU was its fourth in its last five games.

Wyoming (9-7 overall, 1-2 Mountain West Conference) led 35-31 at the half.BYU tied the game early in the second half with an 8-4 run, only to see Wyomingbuild a pair of eight-point leads.

The Cougars worked back to within 59-57 on a 3-pointer by Mike Hall, butWyoming answered with a 10-4 run started by a 3-point-play by Williams,followed by a 3-point shot by Sherrell.

BYU would get no closer than 69-65 with 5:49 to go after back-to-backbaskets by Derek Dawes. Wyoming outscored the Cougars 14-6 the rest of the way,with Wabbington scoring eight of the points.

The Cowboys, who had lost four of their last six entering the game, also got14 points from Jay Straight and 10 from Alex Dunn.

BYU (6-12, 0-3) was led by Hall's 16 points. Mike Rose added 13, Dawes 11and Keena Young 10.
