LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Bryant Markson and Luke Nevill each scored 19 points as Utah beat Wyoming 71-63 in Mountain West Conference play Wednesday night.

The win marked only the third time in the last 10 road contests that Utah (10-9, 3-5 Mountain West) has come away with a victory.

Wyoming was down by as much as 17 in the second half before going on a 13-3 run to pull within 41-34 with 11:04 left. Steve Leven's running jump-shot later in the half highlighted a 15-7 Wyoming run that made the score 61-56 with 1:30 remaining, but Utah held on, making eight of its last 10 free-throws to seal the win.

Brandon Ewing led Wyoming with a career-high 26 points, including 10-of-11 from the free-throw line. Brad Jones added 15 points for the Cowboys.

Johnnie Bryant scored 18 points for the Utes.

The Cowboys were sluggish on offense early on, shooting 16.7 percent from the field, and Utah led 17-8 after 13 minutes of play. Utah's Markson scored the last five points of the first half, and the Utes led 29-15 at halftime.

Wyoming's 15 first-half points were a season low.

The Utes dominated down low in the first half, out-rebounding Wyoming 28-13 and outscoring the Cowboys 16-4 in the paint.

Wyoming's Justin Williams, who is averaging a double-double and ranks No. 2 in the nation in blocked shots, did not play against the Utes after re-aggravating an ankle injury against San Diego State Jan. 28.
