LARAMIE, Wyo. - LeDarion Jones and Anthony Blakes scored 14 points apiece to lead Wyoming to victory against Air Force 61-51 Monday.
Air Force led 45-44 with 9 1/2 minutes to go but Wyoming (16-10, 6-5 Mountain West) outscored the Falcons 17-6 the rest of the game.
The Cowboys took the lead after a lay-up by Marcus Bailey and ran off seven straight points to take a 51-45 lead. Air Force could get no closer than four points after that.
Bailey and Chris McMillian both had 10 points for Wyoming.
Air Force's (7-16, 3-7) Miguel Garcia led with 16 points, including four three-pointers in the second half. Tyron Wright had 11 points.
Jones, who also had 10 rebounds, said he knew the game was going to be physical. The Cowboys won the game with defense, players said.
"Over the years I've been here I guess (Air Force) has been improving every year and this year it shows," Jones said.
Cowboys Coach Steve McClain said the team looked fatigued after several weeks on the road.
"We talk about what the altitude does to teams when they come in here," he said. "But when we're gone as much as we are and we only have two to three days here, we lose some of our conditioning, expecially the big guys."
